Beverly Wooden: LCDC-I, Student Counselor

Beverly is a graduate student currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health
Counseling with a focus in Addiction through Texas Tech University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas Christian University in 2023. Shortly after, she began working in a nonprofit setting with teens and adults experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Her interest in counseling began during her own teenage years, when she experienced firsthand how valuable therapy can be during times of transition and uncertainty. That experience inspired her to pursue a career where she could help others navigate similar challenges.

Beverly’s clinical interests include life transitions—particularly the shift from adolescence into adulthood—as well as chronic illness, addiction, and sports performance. She works
collaboratively with clients and draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches including
cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and existential therapy.
As a Minority Fellowship Scholar, Beverly values culturally responsive care and strives to
understand how each client’s unique background and identity shape their experiences. She also believes in the importance of mind-body connection and takes a holistic view of wellness.

Outside of counseling, Beverly enjoys spending time with her Mini Schnauzer, Penelope,
exploring new restaurants around DFW, traveling, and practicing Pilates.
