Affair Recovery

Affair Recovery

Author Greg Smalley said, “Make it your goal to create a marriage that feels like the safest place on earth.” As a counselor who has worked with many marriages, I understand how important safety is within a relationship. Emotional safety is one of the greatest blessings that is found within the commitment of forever. However, many marriages no longer feel safe as the result of infidelity. When relationships face the aftermath of an affair, healing and restoration can often feel hopeless.

I am here to encourage you that not only can marriages survive the pain of infidelity, but they can come out the other side with a resilience never thought possible. If your marriage has endured marital trauma and you are looking for ways to recover and heal, join me on Saturday, July 27th at 9:30 am for the Affair Recovery class for couples. Topics covered in the class will be:

  • Understanding what happened
  • Finding ways to communicate your feelings
  • Developing self-care skills
  • Discovering ways to help your partner
  • How is trust rebuilt
  • Making a relationship plan that brings hope

Research suggests that 60-70% of marriages stay together after infidelity. Steven D. Solomon, PhD, and Lorie J. Teagno, PhD state, “Those who commit to the hard work of dealing with the devastation of infidelity, and to being a partner who owns his or her weaknesses and mistakes, have an excellent chance of not only staying together but of coming out of the process with a strong, happy, and more long term relationship.”

Healing is a journey, as trust and safety are rebuilt over time, but it is completely possible. If you are two days post disclosure or two years, this class will be beneficial. If you are interested in learning about how to rebuild your marriage and emotional safety, email me today at kelly@hopeandgrowthcenter.com to register for the class and receive more details. My hope is that you and your partner will grow closer together by attending.

Stay encouraged,

Kelly Johnson MA, LPC
